Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)

Departmental Plans & Reports

The DIAP is a community-wide plan, and fulfilling department-level goals is a key component of achieving the vision of a fully diverse and inclusive Brown campus.

Every academic and administrative unit at Brown was called upon to submit a Departmental Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DDIAP) aligned with the University's set of concrete actions for meeting diversity and inclusion goals. Requiring departmental action plans was a specific action step of Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion: An Action Plan for Brown University (the DIAP).

Departments submit an annual update detailing their progress toward the goals of their DDIAPs. These reports are reviewed by a committee convened by the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity. Departments receive feedback on what works well and areas for continued improvement.

Each academic department at Brown has been asked to create its own diversity and inclusion action plan based on the specific needs and opportunities within their departments.
