Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)

Departmental Goal Assessment

Five years into the DIAP, the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity reviewed diversity and inclusion goals set by individual departments to understand Brown’s progress.

Along with an activity mapping analysis, a Departmental Goal Assessment was a key element of developing a DIAP Formative Assessment Report to understand and evaluate Brown’s progress in meeting its goals to create a more fully diverse and inclusive community.

The Departmental DIAP Goal Assessment, led by OIED (and outlined in the DIAP Formative Assessment section of DIAP Phase II), examined what proportion of goals were achieved in academic and administrative departments by reviewing the Departmental Diversity and Inclusion Action Plans. OIED examined 89 departments (59 academic, 30 administrative) that submitted a DDIAP and a subsequent annual update on the plan’s progress between 2016 and 2019. Across the 89 departments over the four-year period, a total of 899 goals (620 academic, 279 administrative) were analyzed.
