Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)

University DIAP (2016)

Brown’s 2016 Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan guided the University's diversity and inclusion efforts from 2016 through 2025.

Brown University’s commitment to diversity as part of its mission of education and research is highlighted in the University’s strategic plan, Building on Distinction. The detailed vision for realizing this commitment was articulated with the launch of Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion: An Action Plan for Brown University (the DIAP) in 2016.

This strategic plan for diversity and inclusion established concrete, achievable actions to make Brown a more fully diverse and inclusive community, focusing on six priority areas: People, Academic Excellence, Curriculum, Community, Knowledge and Accountability.

Through the DIAP, Brown asserted a commitment to focus on a set of tangible steps that would have the greatest impact campus-wide. The goal continues to be to ensure that all members of our community — all who live, work and study at the University — are valued, respected and provided with equal opportunities to thrive. Regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, political views, physical ability or other aspects of identity, every individual at Brown should know they can fulfill their enormous potential in an academic community dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding.
